Black and White

This is one of my favorite things. I was cleaning yesterday and took a couple photos of my vanity, with the mirrors angled so you can't see the pile of moving boxes taking up half the room. About 15 years ago or so, my ex-husband found this in front of someone's house with a $50 sale tag on it, and bought it for me.

It is a little bit dinged up, but I love it.

Since the finish far from perfect and there is some veneer chipped off, I'm thinking it wouldn't be a total sin if I painted it. I think it would look really striking in black, but I'm doing black furniture on the main floor and I'd love to transition to a pale cottage look in the bedroom. I'm not going to tackle this until I move, and have a garage where I can do "projects" like this (which is going to be AWESOME, by the way!) So, I have at least 7 weeks to think about what to do.

White would be really make my perfume bottle collection stand out.

Still, there must be some reason I keep picturing it in black...

Oh my goodness, I love it!!! It is so pretty. I actually love it the way it is, but if you want to change it I would suggest white. Are you going to leave it in your bedroom? And, if so are you going to get new bedding for your new home? If so, maybe you can decide on the color at that point. Black and white are both great colors.

I wish I lived closer so I could go to your garage sale. You have so many wonderful things.

By the way, I left you something on my blog.....

What a beautiful piece of antique furniture. I can see it in black too. I hope you have fun re-finishing it. I bet it is going to be beautiful.

Thank you so much for stopping by today and wishing me happy birthday. I truly appreciate it. Please stop by again any time! Amy :)

Hi Tracy!
I too love cottage/shabby chic design. Check out my blog and tell me what you think of my s.c. bedroom. You must be SO excited about moving into your own home - how awesome! I can't wait to see it all decorated. You have a flair for it I can see.
I also cannot wait for Spring! Won't be long now!

It is gorgeous and I think it belongs in a bedroom in an off-white color. I recently repainted my bedroom set - it was a fun project and only took a couple of days. Just lightly sand to get the finish off, one coat of primer and two coats of the paint of your choice. It's fun and worth the effort. I think it will look great no matter what color you paint it. If your instincts tell you black, then go with it!
