Birds Nesting in the Daisies

When I came home on Thursday afternoon, I noticed some weedy twigs poking out of my front door flower arrangement.  Uh-oh.  Some sweet little bird has decided my flower basket is an ideal nesting spot.  I guess this confirms that I don't get out much, for surely any comings and goings would have deterred her from setting up house in such a way that her babies will be in and out of my foyer.

The daisies do provide pretty good cover from the elements and screen the nest from passerby.  I had this problem once before, when mourning doves set up in a planter outside my back door.  They made a mess.  These eggs are tiny and so pretty, I can't think of disturbing them but it will not be easy since this is the only practical means of egress from my house.

My neighbor thought they might be sparrows and from pictures I've seen online I think she is right.  So it appears I've got guests for about a month.  I'm going to have to rethink my door decor once they move out.

Hope you are having a nice weekend!

Tracy this is off the charts :) How lucky are you & them? Can you gently relocate the arrangement so nobody's feathers are ruffled? -Louise/Pittsburgh

That's so sweet! Yus see, you do such a good job of making your home cosy, you even have the local wildlife moving in! Before you know it you'll be like a Disney princess with birds perched on your window ledge singing to you as you get ready in the morning.Rx

I can't blame them for wanting to nest in such a pretty place! I've had that happen several times on my front door, too. And what a mess they made....their poop was dried like glue all over my glass door. But......it came off! ;-} However, I made a note on my calendar for next year....get the wreath off the door! LOL

How funny! We've had spiders spin webs in our window boxes, but never bids nesting in our door arrangements lol--

Oh how adorable - but nerve racking for you not to accidentally disturb them!
