Turquoise Jewelry Armoire

I picked up this little jewelry armoire at a yard sale a couple weeks ago for $25:

Not exactly a priceless antique, but I liked the carved details and thought I'd like it even better white.
Then I changed my mind and painted it turquoise. Or, to be precise, I painted it Martha Stewart Hummingbird Blue.  Yes, on my kitchen table.  That's how I roll.  Hmm, note to self... clean out the garage.

Freshly painted, and a little too pristine for my taste, so I roughed it up a little bit around the edges:

Applied a dark glaze to accent the details and give it a little drama.  Now it looks like it had an interesting past life, maybe storing feather boas in a bordello.  But probably not.

Then I decoupaged some scrapbook paper to the frame of the interior mirror (and took a bad pic of it):

Finally, I filled it with my costume priceless jewelry collection.  I have a lot more jewelry than I thought:

I took a couple pics in different light and the color looks completely different.  Here it is in the sunroom, looking slightly washed out:

And here it is in the bedroom with the color looking slightly more saturated than it is.  Neither looks exactly right, but in person it is precisely how I envisioned it, and I guess that is what counts. :)

I'm partying at Furniture Friday, Potpourri Friday, Feathered Nest Friday, and Show and Tell Friday this week. Have a great weekend, and thanks so much for stopping by!

The blue color is so pretty! It's nice that you left the top wood stained!
Thank you for sharing your creativity at Potpourri Friday!

Turquoise is one of my favorite colors, so I love the color choice you picked. I think it has much more of a "wow" factor than white would have, and the contract of the blue and the reddish wood underneath is quite nice!

Thank you for visiting my blog and have a great weekend.

I never understood those big ole jewelry pieces......until now. In the first picture I thought, omg that's adorable. I didn't even notice it was jewelry deal. Love it. Totally transformed and it looks great there with the matching mirror above it. Now I am going to be keeping my eye out for one to transform. I am in love! Newest follower!!!!

I love this! I was wondering what type of dark glaze you used? I'm still trying to figure out what kind of glaze I like. I have the Martha Stewart glaze in Black Coffee right now.
